DANIEL MATRICULATION HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL
Daniel Matriculation Hr. Sec. School is managed by Rajammal Educational and Charitable Trust founded by Chev. Dr. D. KoiIpiIlai and his three younger brothers, to impart the Light of education to the residents of North Chennai. He, was renowned industrialist and philanthropist with the heart to impart education. His the vision was to provide excellent opportunity to the children of this less privileged area as advised by his mother Mrs Rajammal Daniel
His dream came true with the inception of Daniel Matriculation School in May, 1995 with classes from LKG upto standard V. Mr V.V.S PaulRaj, B.A.B.T a well renowned National and State Awardee and Retd Principal of a school and friend of our founder was instrumental in guiding the inception of the school.
The motto of the school is aptly worded as "Walk in Wisdom". The school strives to imbibe in every student to apply the knowledge acquired with wisdom in their daily life. Opportunities are provided for developing the all-round personality, equipping the pupil to become a useful citizen of India, capable of facing the competitive world with patriotic fervour.
Located in the heart of Korukkupet, a thickly populated area, today the school has the largest campus in the area with ample ground for play and spacious class smart classrooms for digital learning. It houses a school Clinic to attend to the health aspects of every student and also a privately managed Cricket /Football Turf used by the students for play.
Our first set of 10th and 12th students appeared for the Government Public Examination in the year 2001 and 2003 respectively and till date the school is able to give 100% results in almost all the batches with all necessary labs and equipment.
Founder
Chev.D.Kovilpillai,M.A(Th)
Dr.D.Kovilpillai hails from a remote village in Tirunelveli District called Parankundrapuram. Abject poverty propelled him to give-up schooling to come to Chennai way back in 1969 to find a means for living.

He joined as a labourer in one of the Snuff Cos. in North Chennai, learnt the trade and decided to start his own venture. With the help of his 3 brothers, he established the distinguished D.S.Brand which manufactures Snuff powders, Asafoetida and other products today and is a brand leader in its line of business.

Without the privileged of a proper education himself, he was inspired to start a small nursery school with the proceeds of their business. With the able guidance and advise of Mr.V.V.S. Paulraj , B.A.,B.T.,DSM- (National and State Best Teacher Awardee) Retd. Headmaster of KCS Nadar Hr. Sec. School the Rajammal Education and Charitable trust was established in 1995. Being a keen observer he became an astute builder and architect by experience. He ensured that proper infrastructure was provided to the school not to mention key aspects like discipline and respect to be engraved in every student. Today it is the best-known school in North Chennai with more than 3000 students.

Dr. Kovilpillai was awarded a Doctorate for Social services by the Inter American University of Humanistic studies, USA for his distinguished achievements in the field of Social Service.

He has been crowned with the title ‘Chevalier’ from France
With the poor and needy in mind, his works continues till date to see a less ignorance and more awareness tomorrow by the power of education, so as to leave a legacy for many to follow.

I remember the starting days when my husband and our Founder used to take so much efforts to start a school in Korukkupet. Many questions were asked if this was a wise decision to invest time, energy and resources in our area. However, after almost 3 decades I am proud to see our school with over 3000 students from a humble beginning of less than 100 students in 1995.It has been the grace of the Almighty God who has been behind us till today to guide us to bring the light of education to the poor and under-privileged people in North Chennai
I hope and pray that with the cooperation of our school leaders , parents and students our school will achieve the goal to impart wholesome education to uplift society and our country from the darkness of illiteracy

Our School was started by my beloved brother
Chev.Dr D Koilpillai who was a man of vision and passion for education and philanthropy. Since we as a family were less privileged in our younger days and have experienced true poverty and illiteracy, we could understand the need of the area we live in. This is the motivation for us to start this school with a noble objective to educate the underprivileged with quality education with moderate fees.

Today we are proud to say that our school has grown beyond our expectations by the grace of God and the cooperation of the local community and parents. Discipline comes first in our school followed by all round academic rigor. Health of the children is primary to their ability to study. With this in mind we have a school clinic to monitor, the health of every student with trained nurse and Doctors. "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy" goes the old saying. Sports and play are encouraged in our school with spacious group and a newly developed Turf for clean and safe play.
Daniel School is producing many professionals in the field of IPS, Medicine, Engineering, Science and Arts when we look at our students who have passed out of our school.
This motivates us to climb higher to update our school to the needs of today's world serving our community in a meaningful way.

Daniel school was started with a noble objective to give quality and wholesome education to the under-privileged in society. This will be the spirit and driving principle behind us. With well qualified and passionate school leaders and our teachers we have been able to accomplish this task with the cooperation of our students and their parents
